        Islahiye, in the west of Gaziantep and 90 kms to the city center, has a strategic location and it is on a plain lowland. The area is 1.513 square kilometers. According to the address-based population registration system of 2012, the total population of the city is 66.193, and the population of the city center is 32.342. In the 19. century, Ottoman Government decides to organize an army to control Kozan and Gavur Mountains. The army is called ‘Fırka-i Islahiye’, controls the regions from Iskenderun to Maraş and Elbistan, from Kilis to Niğde and Kayseri, from Adana to Sivas. İstanbul - Aleppo railway crosses through the city center of Islahiye District. There are railroads to the east and west of Türkiye via Fevzipaşa station in the district. The district is on the first type seismic zone between Hatay and Kahramanmaraş. Due to the influence of Mediterrenean Climate in Islahiye, there are various types of agriculture and fruit and vegetables are grown. Famous Islahiye pepper is exported to foreign countries. Beside red pepper, grape, cotton, wheat, sugar beet, soya been are grown in Islahiye. Tilmen tumulus dates back to B.C.9. century, Zincirli (Samal) Tumulus and Yesemek Open-air Museums are in Islahiye.
